An Unexpected eBay Experience - Part One

This week I decided to put my trusty 32 GB iPod Gen 1 for sale on craigslist. BIG MISTAKE!!! -- I'll go into more detail on that in part two of our discussion. After a few spam filled days of craigslist "H.E. double hockey-sticks"... I pulled the ad and moved to eBay...

For this blog posting I want to focus on my eBay sale. When I post an item on eBay I ALWAYS work so hard to explain the items in as best detail I can without overselling. No one wants to get negative feedback or have to return money due to oversell and under deliver. That is bad.

Here's an email I got from my new eBay seller friend Randy...

"Got it today! Man...you da' bomb!!! Good packing, Great product...and it doesn't appear to have ever been f'd with. Smooth, excellent transaction. Good feedback will be left. Thanks so much Tom. I really feel as though I got what I paid for, and so much more.

Thanks, man.

I was so tickled and relieved... Here is what I set back...
"GREAT news randy...

I always worry that I over sell things, when I try to be as honest as possible...

glad you are happy...

my new ipod is being delivered today...

rock on, -thomas"

Thinking that was the end of it, I went shopping, but received this reply while in the check out. I was not ready for what I received....
"Ever since I lost my right arm and damaged my left hand in an accident 19 months ago, ...anything that doesn't require too much digital dexterity, and touts ease of use, is greatly appreciated, in so many ways that I could never appreciate, before. This is as described, and I pray your new iPod brings you as much joy as this, has me. (Rockin to "Daughtry" now on the iPod) Lovin' it man!!! Thanks, again.

Randy"

WOW... this really sent my spirits souring. I even got a tear in my eye. Not sure why, but this just makes you think...you never know where or when you will have an impact. In the oddest places and in the most obscure of situations, you can still make a difference and clearly Randy has made his mark on me...Thank you Randy!
